ARE YOU REWARDED FOR READING THE QUR'AN EVEN THOUGH YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND IT'S MEANING?

QUESTION: 

WILL ONE be rewarded for reading the Qur'ān even though he [or she] does not know its MEANING? 

ANSWER: 

YES he [or she] will be rewarded due to general statement of the Messenger ﷺ:

Whoever reads the Qur'ān, he will have ten rewards for every letter.

Then he ﷺ said: And I am not saying that:

‘Alif, Laam, Meem’ is a letter, rather:

- 'Alif’ is a letter and
- 'Meem’ is a letter.
