CONDITIONS OF SALAH; SITTING DURING PRAYERS

The basic principle concerning the prayer of one
who is sick is that he should do whatever he is
able to of the essential parts of the prayer, and he
does not have to do what he is unable to do. This
is indicated by a great deal of evidence from the
Qur’an and Sunnah.
Allah says;
“So keep your duty to Allah and fear Him as much
as you can”
[64:16]
“Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope”
[2:286]
And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) said:
“If I command you to do a thing, then do as much
of it as you can.”
(Bukhari; 7288 & Muslim; 1337)
It was narrated that ‘Imraan ibn Husayn (may
Allah be pleased with him) said: “I was suffering
from haemorrhoids and I asked the Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allah be upon him) about praying.
He said,
‘Pray standing, and if you cannot, then sitting
down, and if you cannot, then lying on your side.’”
(Bukhari; 1117)
Allah (Exalted is He) is our creator, Allah has
therefore chosen for us a religion best suited to the
nature of mankind, a religion that goes neither to
the extremes of hardship nor of laxity, but instead
provides a middle path; in other words, a religion of
ease. Allah says;
"Allah intends for you ease, and does not want to
make things difficult for you" [2:185]; and "Allah
does not want to place you in difficulty" [5:6].
Such easiness is well explained in the hadeeth
reported by Abu Hurairah, radiya Allahu 'anhu, that
the Prophet (peace be upon him), said, "Religion is
easy..." [Bukhari], he also said; "The best of your
religion, is the easiest." [Ahmad]
How much Allah has favoured us, yet we fail to
please him.. There is no excuse to miss our salah
brothers and sisters.. There is no excuse.
Spread the knowledge so it will be Sadqa-e-Jaaria
for you and for me... In'Shaa'Allah.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
“Whoever directs someone to a good, then he will
have the reward equal to the doer of the
action.” [Muslim 1893]

THE PARTY GIRL WHO'S EMBRACED A NEW LIFE AS A MUSLIM CONVERT

Her conversion from Ibiza party girl to hijab-
wearing Muslim in barely three months may well
raise a few eyebrows – and she admits that her
friends probably think it’s another one of her fads.
But trainee teacher Heather Matthews, 27, says
Islam has brought her ‘love and happiness’ that
she never found in her old ‘shallow’ lifestyle.
Mrs Matthews, a mother of two, converted to the
faith four weeks ago – two months after returning
from a holiday in Ibiza. And she says that the
photographs of the ‘old her’ taken on that trip
show all that is wrong with Western images of
beauty.
She said: ‘I thought I needed to act and dress in a
certain way to feel good about myself. I see girls
now and think about what image they are
portraying to other people, especially men.
‘It is about self-respect. If you dress and act in a
certain way, rightly or wrongly, you’ll be treated in
a certain way.
‘Islam has taught me about real love, not false
passion and lust. I can even see the logic in
arranged marriage.’
A study by multi-faith group Faith Matters found
the number of Muslim converts in Britain has now
passed 100,000, doubling in ten years.
The report estimated nearly two-thirds of the new
converts were women, with an average age of 27 –
like Mrs Matthews.
Her path to conversion began when she tried to
convince her ex-husband Jerrome, himself a
Muslim convert, that the religion was wrong. She
was ‘very suspicious’ of the faith, and began
reading up on it to support her arguments.
Although they separated last year, she continued to
learn about Islam – and identified with it more and
more. Then, four weeks ago, she completed the
‘revert’ process. She said: ‘I underwent the
‘Shahadah’ ceremony of conversion to Islam by
repeating a declaration of faith in front of the Imam
at my local multi-faith centre.
‘I had several Muslim sisters with me and they
bought me a hijab and Islamic books to celebrate.
It was wonderful.’
Before Islam: This picture of Heather was taken
earlier this year on the party island of Ibiza, which
she now says shows everything that is wrong
about Western beauty
But she admits that her friends have been shocked
at her conversion to a religion which is often seen
as being oppressive towards women.
‘People are probably thinking “Oh, it is just another
one of Heather’s fads”. It isn’t. It is what I’ve
been searching for during the times I’ve been filling
my life with instant gratification,’ she said.
Mrs Matthews, from Preston, has also had a
cautious reaction from her family. But it is the
response from passers-by that surprised her the
most – especially the effect of her headscarf.
‘No men try to chat me up. It is an idiot repellent.
When I’m wearing the headscarf I can smile at
people without them thinking it is a sexual
advance,’ she said.
‘I definitely agree with Islam’s principles of not
having sex with someone you’re not married to and
to save your beauty for your husband. So I think
my next partner would need to be a practising
Muslim to understand.
‘It is easy for me to say this now, with hindsight,
having made the mistakes, but I think I would have
been better off with partners who my parents
thought were suitable, learning to love them
through friendship first.’ Mrs Matthews has given
up alcohol, sticks to a halal diet and plans to fast
during Ramadan. She has an English-language
Koran which she reads daily, and wants to learn
Arabic so that she can recite prayers five times a
day.
But she will not be forcing Islam on to her
daughters – Ellah, five, and two-year-old Halle –
from her marriage to Jerrome.
‘People think I must be oppressed but I’m a
strong, confident and free woman,’ she said. ‘I
know I’m one of the most unlikely people to revert
to Islam.
‘It astounds me. But I’ve done it for love and
happiness and it has completely changed my life.’

Gabriel answered: 'Gabriel.' He asked,'Is thereanyonewith you?' Gabriel replied, 'Yes, MuhammadI is with me.' He asked,'Has he beencalled?'Gabriel said, 'Yes.' So the gatewas openedand we wentover the nearest heaven and therewe saw a man sittingwith some peopleon his rightand someon his left. When he lookedtowards his right,he laughedand when he lookedtoward his left he wept. Thenhe said, 'Welcome!O piousProphet and piousson.' I asked Gabriel, 'Who is he?' He replied, 'He is Adam and the peopleon his rightand left are the souls of his offspring.Thoseon his rightare the peopleof Paradise and thoseon his left are the peopleof Hell and when he looks towards his righthe laughs and when he looks towards his left he weeps.'
Thenhe ascendedwith me till he reachedthe secondheaven and he (Gabriel) said to its gatekeeper,'Open(the gate).' The gatekeepersaid to him the sameas the gatekeeperof the first heaven had said and he openedthe gate. Anas said: "Abu Dhar addedthatthe Prophet met Adam, Idris, Moses,Jesusand Abraham, he (Abu Dhar) did notmentionon whichheaven they werebuthe mentionedthathe (the Prophet ) met Adam on the nearestheaven and Abraham on the sixthheaven. Anas said, "When Gabriel along with the Prophet passedby Idris, the latter said, 'Welcome!O pious Prophet and piousbrother.' The Prophet asked, 'Who is he?' Gabriel replied, 'He is Idris." ThenI passedby Abraham and he said, 'Welcome! O piousProphet and piousson.' I askedGabriel, 'Who is he?' Gabriel replied, 'He is Abraham. The Prophet added,'ThenGabriel ascendedwith me to a place where I heardthe creaking of the pens." Ibn Hazm and Anas bin Malik said: The Prophet said, "Then Allah enjoinedfifty prayerson my followers when I returnedwith thisorderof Allah, I passedby Moseswho askedme, 'What has Allah enjoinedon your followers?'I replied, 'He has enjoinedfifty prayerson them.'Mosessaid, 'Go backto your Lord (and appeal for reduction)for your followers will notbe able to bear it.' (So I wentbackto Allah and requestedfor reduction)and He reducedit to half. When I passedby Mosesagain and informed him aboutit, he said, 'Go backto your Lord as your followerswill notbe able to bear it.' So I returned to Allah and requestedfor furtherreductionand half of it was reduced.I again passedby Mosesand he said to me: 'Returnto your Lord, for your followers will notbe able to bear it. So I returnedto Allah and He said, 'Theseare five prayersand they are all (equal to) fifty (in reward) for My Word doesnot change.'I returnedto Mosesand he told me to go backonceagain. I replied, 'Now I feel shy of asking my Lord again.' ThenGabriel tookme till we '' reachedSidrat-il-Muntaha (Lote tree of; the utmost boundary) whichwas shroudedin colors, indescribable.ThenI was admittedinto Paradise where I foundsmall (tents or) walls (made) of pearlsand its earth was of musk."

DEATH: START OF LIFE

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "When carried to his grave, a dead person is followed by three, two of which return (after his burial) & one remains with him: his relative, his property, & his deeds follow him; relatives & his property go back while his deeds remain with him." The last day

Allah said:-
When the sun is shrouded in darkness,
when the stars are dimmed,
when the mountains are set in motion,
when pregnant camels are abandoned,
when wild beasts are herded together,
when the seas boil over,
when souls are sorted into classes,
when the baby girl buried alive is asked for what
sin she was killed,
when the Records of deeds are spreadopen,
when the sky is stripped away,
when Hell is made to blaze and Paradise brought
near: then every soul will know what it has
brought about.
I swear by the planets that recede, move, and hide,
by the night that descends, by the dawn that softly
breathes: this is the speech of a noble messenger.

When In Need

Everything in the heavens and earth belongs to
Allah.
Allah is SelfSufficient and worthy of all praise.
If all the trees on earth were pens and all the seas,
with seven more seas besides, [were ink,] still
Allah’s words would not run out: Allah is Almighty
and All Wise.Creating and resurrecting all of you is
only like creating or resurrecting a single soul:
Allah All Hearing and All Seeing. Do you not see
that Allah causes the night to merge into day and
the day to merge into night; that He has subjected
the sun and the moon, each to run its course for a
stated term; that He is aware of everything you
[people] do? This is because Allah is the Truth, and
what they invoke beside Him is false.
He is the Most High, Most Great. Do you not see
that ships sail through the sea, by the grace of
Allah, to show you [people] some of His wonders?
Truly there are signs in this for every steadfast,
thankful person.
When the waves loom over those on board like
giant shadows they callout to Allah, devoting their
religion entirely to Him.
But, when He has delivered them safely to land,
some of them waver only a treacherous, thankless
person refuses to acknowledge Our signs.
O Humankind, be mindful of your Lord and fear a
day when noparent will take the place of their
child, nor a child take the place of their parent, in
any way. Allah’s promise is true, so do not let the
present life delude you, nor let the deceiver delude
you about Allah.

THE LIGHT

Allah is the Light of the heavens and earth.
His Light is like this: there is a niche, and in it
alamp, the lamp inside a glass, a glass like a
glittering star, fuelled from a blessed olive tree
from neither east nor west, whose oil almost gives
light
even when no fire touches it
– light upon light
– Allah guides whoever He will to his Light;
Allah draws such comparisons for humankind;
Allah has full knowledge of everything.
[Chapter 24, Verses 35]

Friends Of Allah

In whatever matter you may be engaged and
whatever part of the Quran you are reciting,
whatever work you are doing, We witness you when
you are engaged in it.
Not even the weight of a speck of dust in the earth
or sky escapes your Lord, nor anything lesser or
greater: It is all written in a clear Record.
But for those who are on Allah’s side there is no
fear, nor shall they grieve. For those who believe
and are conscious of God, for them there is good
news in this life and in the Hereafter
– there is no changing the promises of Allah
– that is truly the supreme triumph.
[Chapter 10, Verses 61-64]

Never Lose Hope

The Almighty answers every call of ours for as long
as we don’t lose hope. We must continue seeking
enthusiastically even if it means for years.
Repeating a call constantly is a GREAT act of
worship.
One day, when the time is right, we will get what
we had been asking for all along. Never lose hope
in the Mercy of the Almighty, as He knows when it
is best for us to get what we want, if it is good for
us.
Those who aim to please the Creator will always
be pleased by Him. He never lets us down but we
let ourselves down by engaging in sin.
# Yaa Allah please have mercy on all of the
Muslims . Aameen.

O My Lord,
My sins are like
The highest mountain;
My good deeds
Are very few
They’re like a small pebble.
I turn to You
My heart full of shame,

Because he feel Honoured on that day. Am I right ?
Muslim woman are always respected and honoured
by our creator Allah swt with hijab.

those whom We have created with a marked
preference.

BALANCE

It is the Lord of Mercy who taught the Quran, He
created the human being and taught him to
communicate.
The sun and the moon follow their calculated
courses, the plants and the trees submit to His
designs; and the heaven
He raised and imposed the balanced so that you
may not exceed in the balance.
Weigh with justice and do not fall short in the
balance.
He set down the earth for his creatures with its
fruits, its palm trees and sheathed clusters, its
husked grain, its fragrant plants, so which of your
Lord’s favours will you deny?

how He spread it, and by the soul and its balanced

'THE TRUTH AND FALSEHOOD

Say ‘‘God is the Creator of all things:
He is the One, the All Compelling.’’ He sends water
from the sky that fills riverbeds to overflowing,
each according to its measure.
The stream carries on its surface a growing layer
of froth, like the froth that appears when people
melt metals in the fire to make ornaments and
tools: in this way God illustrates truth and
falsehood
– the froth disappears, but what is of benet to
humankind staysbehind
– this is how God makes illustrations.
There will be the best of rewards for those who
respond to their Lord... [Chapter 13, Verses 16-18]

Love and Mercy

Narrated 'Abdullah: -
We were with the Prophet while we were young
and had no wealth whatever. So Allah's Apostle
said, "O young people! Whoever among you can
marry, should marry, because it helps him lower
his gage and guard his modesty (i.e. his private
parts from committing illegal sexual intercourse
etc.), and whoever is not able to marry, should
fast, as fasting diminishes his sexual power."

SOME ADVICE for those who think that growing bread will decrease their personality and HANDSOME LOOKS

Praise be to Allaah.
The Sunnah of the Messenger of Alla…ah (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) indicates that
it is obligatory to let the beard grow and that it is
haraam to shave it or cut it. It was narrated in al-
Saheehayn that the Prophet (peace and blessings
of Allaah be upon him) said: “Cut the moustache
and let the beard grow; be different from the
mushrikeen.”
(al-Bukhaari, al-Libaas, 5442; Muslim, al-
Tahaarah, 382)
There are many ahaadeeth which say the same as
this hadeeth, indicating that it is obligatory to
leave the beard alone and let it grow and that it is
haraam to shave it or cut it. Whoever claims that
letting the beard grow is no more than a Sunnah
for which a person may be rewarded and the one
who does not do it will not be punished is going
against the saheeh ahaadeeth. The report that
says that the Prophet (peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) used to trim the length and
breadth of his beard is a false hadeeth. But it
should be noted that Islam is the religion of
beauty, as it was narrated in the hadeeth,
“[A man said,] ‘What if a man likes his clothes and
his shoes to look good?’ The Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘Allaah is
Beautiful and loves beauty.’” (Narrated by Muslim,
al-Eemaan, 131). The Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded [one
of his companions] to change grey hair, when he
said, “Change this grey hair, but avoid
black.” (Narrated by Muslim, Kitaab al-Libaas
wa’l-Zeenah, 2102).
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) recommended combing hair, and said,
“Whoever has hair, let him take care of it.” (Abu
Dawood, Kitaab al-Tarajjul, 3632. Al-Albaani said
in Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood: it is hasan saheeh.
Hadeeth no. 3509). Al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar said: “Ibn
Battaal said: combing means tidying the hair of the
head and beard, and oiling it.”
This is the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him), and he (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said,
“Whoever turns away from my Sunnah has nothing
to do with me.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, al-
Nikaah, 4675)
It should be noted that the beauty referred to is
shar’i or Islamic beauty (beauty as prescribed in
Islam), and not the so-called beauty which
appeals to sick minds which are enamoured of
kaafir fashions and the appearance of corrupt
people such as male and female actors and
singers, or fashion models. Hence when some
people were misled by those immoral western
women who pluck or shave or draw their eyebrows,
or make their nails long (like wild beasts), or have
tattoos, and thought that this is beauty, many
Muslim women imitated them in these things, even
though they are forbidden by sharee’ah.
The point is not what is fashionable in the east or
the west, the point is the sharee’ah which
advocates wearing perfume (for men), keeping
clean, dressing nicely, combing the hair, changing
grey hair, and other kinds of beautification which
are prescribed in Islam. And Allaah is the Source of
strength.

Comprehensiveness

Islam is comprehensive in many ways. It is
comprehensive in the sense that it applies to all
human beings and is applicable by all regardless
of where or what time they may be living. Islam or
submission to God is the true way of life from the
time of the first human until the time of last
human on this Earth.57 Furthermore, Islam is for
all classes of people. Islam is just as much
relevant to the most knowledgeable scientist as
well as the illiterate Bedouin. Allah says concerning
the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of
Allah be upon him)
Allah says concerning the Prophet Muhammad
(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), “Say
(O Muhammad to the people), ‘O mankind! Verily, I
am sent to you all as the Messenger of
Allah’ (7:158).
Another verse reads, “And We have not sent you
(O Muhammad) except as a giver of glad tidings
and a warner to all mankind” (34:28).
Among the Prophet's followers were the rich and
poor, nobles and weak, literate and illiterate. All of
them were able to apply Islam and thereby, Allah
willing, earn the pleasure of God.
Allah says, “Those who desire the life of this world
and its glitter, to them We shall pay (the price of)
their deeds therein, without diminution. They are
those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter
but the Fire: vain are the designs they frame
therein, and void are the deeds that they
do” (11:15-16).
In another verse, Allah says, “Whoever desires the
immediate [worldly gratifications], We hasten for
him from it what We will to whom We please. Then
We have made for him Hell, [in] which he will burn,
censured and banished.
But whoever desires the Hereafter and exerts the
effort due to it while he is a be- liever, it is those
whose effort is appreciated” (17:18-20).
glorifies His Praise. But you understand not their
glorification. Truly, He is Ever Forbearing, Oft-
Forgiving” (17:44).
Allah says, “Do you believe in part of the Scripture
and dis- believe in part thereof? And what is the
reward of those who do so save igno- miny in the
life of the world, and on the Day of Resurrection
they will be con- signed to the most grievous
doom. For Allah is not unaware of what you do.
Such are those who buy the life of the world at the
price of the Hereafter: Their punishment will not be
lightened, neither will they have support” (2:85-
86).

8 Things Which Strengthen Your Marriage

1) Heve a Good Attitude to your wife: -
A Muslim must always have a positive attitude
toward life. We say, "Al Hamdulillah" (Praise be to
Allah) for whatever He gives us (or doesn't give
us).
2) Help Your wife: -
Our prophet, peace be upon him, stressed the
importance of men helping their wives and Allah
tells us the importance of women being mates and
helpers to their husbands. This is a real "win-win"
situation, if we just follow it. The Sunnah.
3) Trust Your Wife :-
Muslims, men and women are ordered to be
trustworthy and follow the example of our prophet,
peace be upon him, as the "Trustworthy".
4) Respect Your wife : -
You get respect, when you give respect. This is
mandatory for all
Muslims toward all people, how much more toward
the spouse?
5) Joy Your wife: -
Our prophet, peace be upon him, used to entertain
his wife, Ayesha and she used to play and race
with him. She said, "I used to out-run him, but
then when I got heavy he used to outrun me". He
told us to play with our wives.
6) Forgive your wife : -
Clearly, this is one of the most important aspects
of Islam. Whoever does not forgive - will not be
forgiven. This comes from Allah, Himself. We must
learn to forgive each other's mistakes so we won't
it against us.
7) Give a Time To your wife: -
Spend time, alone - together. Go for walks. Take a
bus ride. Visit a friend or someone who is ill (you
get big rewards for that). Fast together on
Mondays & Thursdays if you can. Make hajj - this
is a great way to get a "new start" on life. Trust
me.
8) Worship Allah together : -
Connection with Allah through ritual of prayer,
petition and peace while moving together in the
salat is something a non-Muslim can never really
appreciate. Our prophet, peace be upon him, used
to lead his wife in salat, even though he lived
connected to the mosque. He told us not to make
our homes like grave yards. We should offer some
of our sunnah prayers at home. A sister gains the
most rewards at home, in her room, behind a
screen.

Ibn Uthaymeen: “Do not Marry 7 types of Women

Brothers in Islam do not Marry 7 types of Women:
1. Al-Annaanah: The woman who whines, moans
and complains and ‘ties a band around her head’
all the time (i.e. complains of a headache or
some illness but in reality she is not sick, rather
she is faking).
2. Al-Mannaanah: The woman who bestows
favours, gifts, etc. upon her husband then (at
that time or the future) says; “I did such and
such for you or on your behalf or because of you.
3. Al-Hannaanah: The women who yearns or
craves for her former husband or children of the
former husband.
4. Kay’atul-Qafaa: The women who has a brand
mark on the nape of her neck (i.e. has a bad
reputation or doubts about her).
5. Al-Haddaaqah: The women who cast her eyes
at things (i.e. always looking at something to
purchase, then desires it and requires her
husband to buy it (No Matter What).
6. Al-Barraaqah: The women who spends much
of her day enhancing her face and beautifying it
to such an extent that it will seem like it was
manufactured.
7. Al-Shaddaaqah: The woman who talks
excessively.
Taken from the Book: ‘A Concise Manual of
Marriage’ by Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen

Sisters Do not marry 7 types of men

A man that is not Muslim.
A man who is not God fearing.
A man who hasn't good sense of humar.
A man that have no good modesty.
A man that can not provide for you and can't fullfil
your domestic needs.
A man that does not pray 5 times a day.
A man that is not capable of loving you.
A man that is not a man.
A man whose character and deen do not please
you.
A man who doesn't love you for the sake of Allah,
rather loves to show you off and for you to reveal
your beauty to other men.

The real meaning of Jihad

Jihad is an Arabic word from the root Jee Ha Da.
It literally means to struggle or strive. Jihad is
struggling or striving in the way or sake of Allah.
Jihad takes a very important status in the doctrine
of Islam and is
one of the basic duties for every Muslim.
Though, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the
term Holy War. Such a term, or its equivalent
doesn’t exist in the Islamic doctrine.
The Christian Crusaders in the mid-ages invented
this ideology of Holy War.There is nothing “Holy”
about wars. Wars only involve killings and
disasters!
Jihad has many forms,
• Jihad of the heart/soul (jihad bin nafs/qalb)
• Jihad by the tongue (jihad bil lisan)
• Jihad by the pen/knowledge (jihad bil qalam/ilm)
• Jihad by the hand (jihad bil yad)
• Jihad by the sword (jihad bis saif)
Jihad of the Heart/Soul
Jihad of the heart/soul; in Arabic: jihad bin nafs/
qalb. It is referred as “the greater Jihad” (al-jihad
al-akbar).
It is one’s inner struggle of good against evil;
refraining oneself from the whispers of Shaitan
(Satan).
This process involves allowing Islam to transform
one’s soul to achieving internal peace; and
forgoing the hatred and anger.
Glorious Quran commands "
“Jihad is ordained for you (Muslims) though you
dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing
which is good for you and that you like a thing
which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not
know.”
{Surah 2: Al-Baqarah, Verse 216 }
Jazak Allah Khair.

For ALLAH is well aware of all that ye do.

Bismillah Ar Rahman Ar Raheem
"Behold ye were climbing up the high ground,
without even casting a side glance at anyone, and
the Messenger in your rear was calling you back.
There did ALLAH give you one distress after
another by way of requital,to teach you not to
grieve for (the booty) that had escaped you and for
(the ill) that had be fallen you. For ALLAH is well
aware of all that you do. "
[Surah Ali Imran 3:153]
It would seem that a party of horsemen led by the
dashing Khalid ibn Walid came through the gap in
the passes where the Muslim archers should have
been, and in the confusion that arose, the retreating
foe rallied and turned back on the Muslim. From
the low ground on the bank of the Nullah, the
Muslims retreated in their turn and tried to gain the
hill. They had a double loss: (1) They were battled
of the booty they had run after, and (2) their own
lives and the lives of their whole army were in
danger, and many lives were actually lost from their
ranks. Their own lives being in danger; they had
hardly time grieve for the loss of booty or the
general calamity, but it steadied them, and some of
them stood the test.

THE CRYING TRUNK OF THE TREE

Jaabir ibn ‘Abdullaah (may Allaah be pleased with
him and his father) reported that the Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used
to go and stand next to a tree or palm-tree on
Fridays. A woman or a man of the Ansaar said: "O
Messenger of Allaah, should we not make for you a
minbar ("pulpit")?" He said, "If you wish." So they
made a minbar for him, and when the next Friday
came, he was shown to the minbar. The tree cried
like a small child, then the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) came down and
hugged the crying tree until it calmed down."
Jaabir said: "It was crying because of the dhikr
(remembrance of Allaah) that it used to hear." (al-
Bukhaari, 3319).
The above hadeeth shows that :
(i) The trunk of the tree cried (feeling)
(ii) It missed the dhikr it used to hear from
Prophet (PBUH) (senses)
Trees Prostrate to Allah :
See you not that whoever is in the heavens and
whoever is on the earth, and the sun, and the
moon, and the stars, and the mountains, and the
trees, and Ad-Dawaabb [moving (living) creatures,
beasts], and many of mankind prostrate
themselves to Allaah. But there are many (men) on
whom the punishment is justified. And whomsoever
Allaah disgraces, none can honour him. Verily,
Allaah does what He wills”

Ruling on musical instruments

Praise be to Allaah.
The aayaat of the Qur’aan and the Ahaadeeth of
the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) indicate that musical instruments are
condemned, and warn us against them. The
Qur’aan teaches that playing these instruments is
one of the things that leads people astray and
constitutes mockery of the Signs of Allaah. Allaah
says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talk to
mislead (men) from the Path of Allaah, without
knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allaah, the
Verses of the Qur’aan) by way of mockery. For
such there will be a humiliating torment (in the
Hell-fire).” [Luqmaan 31:6]
Most of the scholars interpreted lahw al-hadeeth
(“idle talk”) as meaning singing and musical
instruments, and every voice that diverts people
from the truth.
Al-Tabari (Jaami’ al-Bayaan, 15/118-119), Ibn
Abi’l-Dunya (Dham al-Malaahi, 33) and Ibn al-
Jawzi (Talbees Iblees, 232) all reported that
concerning the aayah (interpretation of the
meaning):
“[Allaah said to Shaytaan;] ‘And istafziz [literally
means befool them gradually] those whom you can
with your voice, make assaults on them with your
cavalry and your infantry, mutually share with
them wealth and children, and make promises to
them.’ But Shaytaan promises them nothing but
deceit” [al-Isra’ 17:64]
Mujaahid said, “This refers to singing and flutes.”
Al-Tabari reported that al-Hasan al-Basri said:
“His voice is the tambourine.”
Ibn al-Qayyim said in Ighaathat al-Lahfaan (1/252)
:
“The grammatical structure here (idaafah –
genitive or possessive) is used to make something
specific (idaafat al-takhsees), and in all these
words in the aayah it refers back to the Shaytaan
[addressed here as ‘you’ by Allaah, may He be
glorified]. Everyone who speaks about anything
other than obedience of Allaah or plays a reed pipe,
flute, tambourine or drum, all of this is the voice of
Shaytaan.”
Al-Tirmidhi reported in his Sunan (no. 1005) from
Ibn Abi Layla from ‘Ata’ from Jaabir (may Allaah
be pleased with him) who said: “The Messenger of
Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
went to to al-Nakhl with ‘Abd al-Rahmaan ibn
‘Awf, when his son Ibraaheem was dying. He took
the child in his lap and his eyes filled with tears.
‘Abd al-Rahmaan said, ‘Are you weeping when you
have forbidden us to weep?’ He said, 'I do not
forbid weeping. What I have forbidden is two
foolish and evil kinds of voices: voices at times of
entertainment and play and the flutes of the
Shaytaan, and voices at times of calamity and
scratching the face and rending the garments and
screaming.’”
Al-Tirmidhi said: this is a hasan hadeeth. It was
also reported by al-Haakim in al-Mustadrak, no.
1683, al-Bayhaqi in al-Sunan al-Kubra (4/69), al-
Tayaalisi in Musnad (no. 1683) and by al-
Tahhaawi in Sharh al-Ma’aani, 4/29, and it was
classed as hasan by al-Albaani.
Al-Nawawi said: “What is meant here is singing
and musical instruments.” See Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi,
4/88.
It was reported in a saheeh hadeeth from the
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon
him) said: “In my ummah there will be people who
allow fornication/adultery (zina), silk, wine and
musical instruments [ma’aazif]. Some people will
stay at the side of a mountain, and they will have
flocks of sheep. When a poor person comes in the
evening to ask them for something he needs, they
will say. ‘Come back to us tomorrow.’ Then during
the night Allaah will destroy them by causing the
mountain to fall upon them, while He changes
others into apes and swine. They will remain in
such a state until the Day of Resurrection.’”
(Reported by al-Bukhaari in al-Saheeh mu’allaqan,
51/10. Reported mawsoolan by al-Bayhaqi in al-
Sunan al-Kubra, 3/272; al-Tabaraani in al-Mu’jam
al-Kabeer, 3/319; and Ibn Hibbaan in al-Saheeh
(8/265-266). Classed as saheeh by Ibn al-Salaah
in ‘Uloom al-Hadeeth (32), Ibn al-Qayyim in
Ighaathat al-Lahfaan (255) and Tahdheeb al-
Sunan (5/270-272), al-Haafiz in al-Fath (10/51)
and al-Albaani in al-Saheehah (1/140)).
(Sahih Al Bukhari online, Book #69, Hadith # 494v )
Al-Haafiz said in al-Fath (10/55): Ma’aazif refers
to musical instruments. Al-Qurtubi reported from
al-Jawhari that ma’aazif meant singing, and what
it says in his book al-Sihaah is that it refers to
musical instruments. It was also said that it is the
sound of musical instruments. In a footnote by al-
Dimyaati it says: ma’aazif is tambourines and
other kinds of drums. The word ‘azif is applied to
singing and all other kinds of instruments that may
be played.
Ibn al-Qayyim said in Ighaathat al-Lahfaan (1/256)
:
The evidence for this is that ma’aazif refers to all
kinds of things used for entertainment. There is no
dispute among scholars of the Arabic language on
this point. If they were halaal, he would not have
condemned those who permitted them, or
compared permitting them to permitting wine and
zina.
We may understand from the hadeeth that all kinds
of musical instruments are forbidden. This is clear
from the hadeeth for a number of reasons:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) said “… there will be people who
allow…” It is clear that the things listed here,
including musical instruments, are forbidden in
sharee’ah, but those people will allow them.
He compared musical instruments to things that
are definitely known to be haraam, namely zina
and alcohol. If instruments were not haraam, he
would not have made this comparison. The
evidence of this hadeeth that singing is haraam is
definitive. Even if no other hadeeth or aayah spoke
about musical instruments, this hadeeth would be
sufficient to prove that they are haraam, especially
the kind of singing that is known among people
nowadays, the essence of which is obscenity and
foul talk, based on all kinds of musical instruments
such as guitars, drums, flutes, ouds, zithers,
organs, pianos, violins and other things that make
it more enticing, such as the voices of these
effeminate singers and whores.
(See Hukm al-Ma’aazif by al-Albaani, Tas-heeh al-
Ahkta’ wa’l-Awhaam al-Waaqi’ah fi Ahaadeeth al-
Nabi ‘alayhi’l-salaam by Raa’id Sabri, 1/176).
Shaykh Ibn Baaz said in Majmoo’ al-Fataawa,
3/423-424):
“Ma’aazif refers to singing and musical
instruments. The Prophet (peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) told us that at the end of time
there will come a people who will allow these
things just as they will allow alcohol, zina and silk.
This is one of the signs of his Prophethood, for all
of this has happened. The hadeeth indicates that
[musical instruments] are haraam, and condemns
those who say they are halaal, just as it condemns
those who say that alcohol and zina are allowed.
The aayaat and ahaadeeth that warn against
singing and musical instruments are many indeed.
Whoever claims that Allaah has allowed singing
and musical instruments is lying and is committing
a great evil. We ask Allaah to keep us from
obeying our desires and the Shaytaan. Even worse
and more seriously sinful than that are those who
say it is mustahabb. Undoubtedly this stems from
ignorance about Allaah and His Religion; it is
insolent blasphemy against Allaah and lying about
His Laws. What is mustahabb is to beat on the
daff [simple hand drum] at weddings. This is
mustahabb for women only, in order to announce
the wedding and to distinguish it from fornication.
There is nothing wrong with women singing
amongst themselves, accompanied by the daff, so
long as the songs contain no words that
encourage evil or distract people from their duties.
It is also a condition that this should take place
among women only, and there should be no mixing
with men. It should also not cause any annoyance
or disturbance to neighbours. What some people
do, of amplifying such singing with loudspeakers is
evil, because of the disturbance it causes to other
Muslims, neighbours and others. It is not
permissible for women, in weddings or on other
occasions, to use any instrument other than the
daff, such as the oud, violin, rebab (stringed
instrument) and so on. This is evil, and the only
concession that women are given is that they may
use the daff.
As for men, it is not permissible for them to play
any kind of musical instrument, whether at
weddings or on any other occasion. What Allaah
has prescribed for men is training in the use of
instruments of war, such as target practice or
learning to ride horses and competing in that,
using spears, shields, tanks, airplanes and other
things such as cannons, machine guns, bombs and
anything else that may help jihaad for the sake of
Allaah.”
Shaykh al-Islam said in al-Fataawa (11/569):
“I know that in the ‘golden age’, the first and best
three centuries, in the Hijaaz, in Syria, in the
Yemen, in Egypt, in the Maghreb, in Iraq, in
Khorasan, none of the religious and righteous
people, the ascetics and those who worshipped
Allaah much, would gather to listen to this
whistling and clapping and drum-beating and so
on. This was innovated after that at the end of the
second century, and whenever the imaams saw it,
they denounced it.”
As for these anaasheed which are described as
“Islamic” but are accompanied with musical
instruments, giving them this name lends them
some measure of legitimacy, but in fact they are
singing and music, so calling them Islamic
nasheeds is falsehood and deception. They cannot
be a substitute for singing, as an evil thing cannot
be substituted for another evil thing. We should
replace something evil with something good.
Listening to it on the grounds that it is Islamic and
an act of worship is bid’ah, and Allaah does not
allow this. We ask Allaah to keep us safe and
sound.
